Throughout the 1990s, Ferrari experienced different problems
ranging from sluggish sales to criticism of the lack of engineering. The series
of Ferrari 80s and 90s requires a lot of work like models like 412, Mondial,
348, and even the F50 is a drastic detour from the known Ferrari lineage. This
era, however, is not a complete bust as models like Testarossa and F40 are well
received and continue to increase in value.
When former Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo took over
the helm in 1991, he wanted Ferrari to regain its position as a leader in
Formula 1 and an exotic sports car. How he did it through the introduction of
the new 360 Modena.
360 Modena became the benchmark of Montezemolo and helped
Ferrari increase its declining sales. The 360 is the first powered car of V8 and
designed from zero under his leadership, and while Montezemolo's demands are
challenging, the new model should be bigger and smoother, yet lighter and
faster than its predecessor, the Ferrari F355.
It's been almost twenty years since the introduction of the
Ferrari 360 Modena and there may not be a better choice to get into your first
Ferrari than the Modena 360. It looks like a Ferrari that is sold today, and
can be purchased for less than the new BMW M3.
The center of the Ferrari 360 Modena engine is equipped with
a 400 HP 3.6-liter V8 and a six-speed transmission is offered in F1
(electrohydraulic) and manual. Although the V8 is slightly below supported by
current standards, the Ferrari 360 Modena is not bent in any way. Not to
mention the exhaust record that will be recorded in the history books as one of
the best cars ever. 360 Modena ran to 60 MPH just under 4.4 seconds and reached
about 186 MPH. Montezemolo's goal is to make the exterior of the more exotic
sports car everyday, which is not only more reliable, but also faster around
the Ferrari test track, than the F355. Needless to say, the 360 Modena
exceeds all expectations.
Driving Experience
There has never been a Ferrari you can jump and ride easily
before. The 360 Modena allows you to not worry about driving to a local
grocery store because its usefulness is casual compared to other models. After
driving both the Modena 360 and the F430, I can tell you that 360 is more fun
in daily traffic and for cruise canyon while F430 is more brute power. They
both produce a beautiful symphony of their V8.
For the best driving experience, the Modena 360 should be
driven in a Sport Mode that makes some radical changes. For one, F1
Transmission is fast rising faster, up to 150 milliseconds. Downshifts are also
enhanced with automatic blind throttle for seamless downshifts. This can be a
bit clumsy at times, but it can be understood as a single clutch transmission
all showing the same characteristics.
The Ferrari 360 Modena comes with an active suspension that
adjusts the silencer based on speed, acceleration, and braking. The normal mode
focuses on comfort and stability, while the Sports Mode makes the ride feel
tighter, which of course is more suitable for aggressive driving.
